Going out was cheaper so that was nice. However, I spent a lot on travelling so this more than balanced out. Because I shopped at local markets instead of the supermarket, I found the food to be better quality and less expensive than home.

Travel I spent more because obviously there was more to be done. Telephone cards were expensive and I called home a lot. Everything else was pretty equal.

Look for a second hand shop in the city, there are a few. Don't buy new goods if you are only staying for 6-12 months.

Yes, the deposit you left at the begining for renting the room, sometimes they keep after you leave. Use the deposit before you leave for paying the last rent of your place.

The guesthouse were very expensive = 620 guilders for 8 m2 The nightlife is not expensive as the light alcohol is cheap.
