Best place to visit would be 21 arms or bended elbow, since these are the only popular places in this town. The regent cinema is also worth a visit, its huge!!!

Overall
I wish I had known...
Ballarat is quite a racist redneck town and foreigners are not quite welcome. It frequently happened that internationals with darker coloured skin got beaten up by the locals.

In my opinion:
I loved it but I'm not sure everybody would.
Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
The uni is making a great effort to make your stay a pleasent one and they are trying hard to keep up some standard, but I think it is just a cultural thing about the ozzies. They are quite lazy....

Became familiar with another culture
Met people from other countries
Experienced a change in life
Advanced my studies & career
Final comments
Australia is a good choice if u want to explore this continent. My experiences so far are traveling to tasmania and scuba diving on the great barrier reef. Certainly things u dont do at home. But the Ballarat people do not fancy strangers. Also the youngsters at campus have developed a huge drinking culture, with "Social functions" once or twice a week. If u dont like excessive drinking, staying on campus is not a very wise decision....

Academic
Course recommendations
In the business course we had some chinese teachers, who did not speak english very well. This made it hard sometimes to understand the subject he/she was talking about.

lots of essay writing to do, and for the 4 subjects choose, I had to read about 6-8 chapters a week, just to keep up. Quite a big workload, considering the fact you also want to do some travelling.

Expenses
Main source of funding:
Government assistance
Other sources of funding:
Family<br>
Personal savings
Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options
Personal spending habits
Because of the severe drought in victoria, prices of fresh farm food have risen consideratly. Because of the great distances, I also spend a lot of money on plane tickets. Student priced drinks are quite cheap if u get in before 1 o clock. Concession is available in most cases (cinema, restaurants etc) I Also bought a car, because campus is about 10 km out of town and busses drive verry infrequent to town (only 3 busses on sat-sun)

You are allocated a monthly internet quota worth 6 AUD, this lasts (for me) just for 2-3 days. So I spend a lot on buying additional internet quota (about 50 AUD a month)
