Because I wouldn't have to share a toilet and kitchen with four other people.

The room I was assigned to was very spacious, and the toilet and kitchen were a couple of steps away from the room. It was easy to meet people in the building because most people would hang out in the common rooms.

I have been speaking english for most of my life so I had no problems understanding others in most cases. The only case that does not apply is when the person speaking to me was from the lower class, in which case they had a very thick accent which made it difficult for me to understand, but there where very few of these cases.

Final comments
Do not take an umbrella. It rains nearly everyday and it is too windy at times for one. You will get used to the rain in no time. And if you don't, take your depression to the pub and everything should turn out fine.
