Because I had to walk to my apartment at night, when no buses were going, which took me 30 minutes. Not fun in an Illinois Winter.

My housing at University Commons was very nice, the only bad thing was the location. Also it was not much of a party location, seems like people live off campus to concentrate on studying.
Because I did not have much contact with american students or other exchange students.

I lived together with two collegues from Austria and unfortunately didn't have much contact with other students. Our appartment was quiet nice and not too expensive.

in general it´s pretty expensive, but on the other hand, I never heard anybody complain about the housing; the apartments where in good condition

Very cheap, with lots of space and free access to internet. Almost no duties. Very friendly staff. Only a limited number of colleagues living in house.
