At the end of the year, I prepared my thesis (about heterojunction bipolar transistors on compound semiconductor) and went to UIC in Chicago to defend it, as a regular american student. The experience was really interesting, I could learn really much more in depth than during the regular studies at home university, the class was small (we were few highly selectioned people) and the teacher could follow our work with much more attention. The thesis defence at UIC was hard, but rewarding, since the student can really explain and discuss his work in detail.
