lots of nice pubs down in Canterbury; and you should join the student union for a pub crawl. On campus: Woody's in Parkwood and The Venue

living in self-accommodation on campus is recommendable although you have to consider the campus can get noisy and you can't really choose your house mates. And a lot of people living in self-accomodation on campus are Erasmus so if you want to live with English people you might be disappointed or should explicitly ask for a room in a house with English students.

My English was already fairly good before I went to Canterbury so I sometimes wasn't sure if and in which way my English was improving.

if you're musical, The university of Kent is perfect for you. The choir, conducted by Sue is great fun - I still miss it a lot!... If you're catholic or Christian or just looking for a lovely group of people or for brilliant week-end trips, step into St.John Stone House where the Chtholic Society meets. Mass on Sunday is followed by a Pot Luck Lunch in St. John Stone House; a unique opportunity to have a relaxed Sunday luchtime and afternoon.
