I wish I had known...
I wish I had known how emotional the whole experience would be. Its hard to leave your family and friends from home and once you are settled abroad it is hard to come back home.

BA English Language Graduate
Luke G
Sweden, Undergraduate
Language, 2015
Overall
I joined the course whilst it was in the midst of change. At first it seemed to be more of a joint Language and Literature course, but my colleague and I were able to work together to push the course into the direction we expected it to go. After meetings with heads of departments and with other students we were able to get a new head of department who changed the course for all the students. After their appointment, the standard of teaching and morale amongst the students was exceptional

Tough but very rewarding

United Kingdom, Graduate
Engineering, Chemical, 2019
Overall
I studied Petroleum Engineering BEng. It was extremely tough as we shared a lot of modules with chemeng and with geology students. Felt a bit like jack of all trades and master of none! But the course itself was very rigirous and required many late nights in the library. If you want a social life at Leeds and to graduate with First Class Honours, studying chemical/petroleum engineering is not the course for you!

Pros
There's a lot of opportunities (internships, further study, socials) but you'll have to find them yourself.
Cons
Coursework can be so demanding that it's difficult to absorb the subject as you're constantly cramming especially in your final year.

University of Leeds Russian and Chinese
Jack M
United Kingdom,
Language, 2024
Overall
The Chinese and Russian departments are very useful and supportive in learning about the language and cultures of these regions. I would say the best part about this course is the ability to spend 2 years abroad. While I couldn't go to Russia due to COVID, I could still attend Moscow State University. I also spent a year in Taiwan and attended a very prestigious university there.
