Travel as much as you can.In your social life you cannot be shy, otherwise you won t meet anyone.
Read a lot if you are up to improve your host language.Avoid speaking on your own language.
And enjoy and be occupied most of the time.Take as much advantadge as you can of everything and every single day.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
There are many reasons.I ll give two as an example.1.Your are far more independent you live in a house than on campus. For example,on campus you have to have dinner until for example 18h30,which is quite early. In a house you don depend on anybody.
On campus you have less privacy and more noise. But on the other hand as a Erasmus or international student it is easier to meet peolple and make friends on campus.

The University helped me to find a proper house by searching all the houses available in Nottingham that would be proper for a student to live.
They help me,trying to find my house, talking to the landlords and so on.
The housing at the Universiy of Nottingham was excellent.

I quite like the old trip to have a pint in the evening.
There are basically lots of places where you can go at night .
