Glasshouse is a hot night spot, and Mylan (a Vietnamese restaurant) by Crown St. Mall has the best spring rolls I have ever tasted.

Personal spending habits
I had to buy my own food while studying abroad because meals were not included in my university housing agreement. I obtained a cell phone and just purchased $20 whenever I needed to. Housing is much cheaper than at my home university. Alcohol and taxis made for an expensive nightlife. I travelled more in Australia than I do in the States, but I found it a lot easier and cheaper to travel around Australia.

I wish I had known...
Probably, but it is all about the experience. You really just have to learn as you go, and people are very friendly and very helpful.

Personal recommendation
It is big, but not too big, and there is enough going on to keep you busy. I would recommend this university to anyone that wanted to study in Australia. The city and the beach are easily accessible, there are a lot of great bars, cafes, and restaurants, and Sydney is only an hour and half communte by train.

Final comments
There are a lot of Americans that study at this university making it a bit difficult for an American to become friends with non-Americans. If you are only there for a semester, many non-Americans are wary of becoming friends because while they stay, you will be leaving.
