The housing was really good. It was clean, located in a nice quiet area, within a walking distance to the centre and the university main campus.

If you go by plane, look out for special offers by buzz.air or ryanair-they usually go to london stansted. Make sure you get a young person's railcard if you intend to travel a lot, it makes it much cheaper! On your first days at uni, normally a so-called "Fresher's fayre" will take place which provides you with helpful information and a lot of goodies as well...collect all the flyers you find as nightlife is huge in Britain, and it gives you the possibility to meet a lot of interesting people. Concerning the academic part, i would recommend consulting the internet for information and content of the courses offered and their compitability to your studies at your home university.

At the 1st semester, we were a bunch of French people (all living in the same corridor)- which didn't really help in practising English! We were on the Telford campus and the accom there was pretty new.

I have been studying English before I came to England. Therefore it was no problem at all to follow the lectures. I only had some difficulties in the beginning to cope with the slang of the man on the street. Furthermore I took part in an Enlish Module (English advanced 2).

The student accomodation in the UK is really expensive compared to France- also you can't get "allocation" like in France (APL, ALS); The food on the campus was pricy (for what it was) , probably becuse it's not subsidised. So it is better to buy your own and cook it...

the courses were held in English. I must say that the accent spoken in the West Midlands is quite hard for people who start learning the language because the people speak a heavy dialect. So in social life it was sometimes hard to understand them right away
