I wish I had known...
When buying and adapter for the electricity be very careful. Voltage electricity is different than the majority of European countries. I blew out three floors of electricity in the hotel because I didn't know.

Housing
Type of housing: Off campus dorm for international students
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Same dorm
Why?
While it wasn't physically the best location, living in an apartment would have separated me from other international students. Also, homestays we not available through my program but I would definitely be interested in doing one in the future.

Personal comments
The building was very communist, but included all of the essentials. The beds were hard as rock, but I got used to that. The dorm was certainly part of the overall experience.

Course recommendations
Should you decide to study here, and the courses be taught in English, I recommend that you take begin Czech for the sake of your sanity. Yes, there's some locals who speak english but it's so much more rewarding to be able to partly communicate with them with simple everyday terms. Effort can only enrich your experience . . . I think that applies for everything.

Utilize the culture that surrounds you. Prague is so rich in music, the arts, and history, you'd be crazy to leave the learning just in the classroom. Every encounter is a learning experience, savor it. To this day, I can still smell the streets early in the morning or the rising bread that lingers and invites you to walk in the store, the smiles of the street vendors who you pass by day in and out.

Personal spending habits
Travel was the only big budget item as the other items were included in the fees and the cheap prices kept me from overspending. I traveled around Europe and within the CZ a lot for long weekends, spring break, and for a few weeks after my semester in Prague ended.

Don't go to the ATM ("Bankomat") too often as the exchange rate fluctuates and there are fees attached to using a non-home bank's ATM.

I wish I had known...
I consider that the counseling I got before coming from my home university and my friends who were there before kept me well informed on the situation in Czech Republic.
