Most of the students, professors and other academic staff I have interacted with had good knowledge of English. Some of the normal people, especially aged ones, wouldn't understand English. WU Wien provided intensive GErman courses throughout the program, which I have attended with pleasure.

We were all exchange students so we were pretty at the same level of language. We really didn't have any problems with communicating with others: professors, local students etc. If we had some problems with expressing ourselves in local language, we could explain the problem in English.

The WU offers a lot of courses, the only problem is that they sometimes cross, and if you know that on time, then it's fine, if not you got a problem.
