My German was ok when I got there but got better after 5 months. However, since I was a loy with exchange students, the language we spoke was English, so my German didn't get as good as it should have gotten.

I improved my german language a lot. But the Austrian people speak in dialect, not only in pubs but also at university, in the company and in every instituton.The Vienna dialect is very difficult

The comminication experience in academic field was rather confusion-free as I speak English fluently. My German is also rather ok which hepled me in many everyday situations.

I managed to learn the basics in German. The programme was not geared towards learning a language though, and that is understandable since it was only a month long programme.

I learned quite a bit by being totally immersed in the German Language. I learned a vocabulary and certain phrases that I wouldn't have learned if I studied German in the US

not as a good a chance to speak german as I would have hoped for, because most of the interaction was with other exchange students and the main language was then english.
