Although the space was rather tight, you do get a single and so at least you don't have to share it with anyone. The corridors around where I lived are no longer for accomidations but are rather office space. The rest of the housing on the campus was pretty nice as I recall but, as I've said, I didn't live in those.

Best night club then: The Gallery. Best Cafe: Coffee Culture (you have to go upstairs and sit on the pillows near the windows) Much of the touristy stuff is actually a lot of fun. The York Dungeon is great as well as The Castle Museum. On warm days, spend the day reading in the museum gardens and then go to Cappaccino's for a milkshake, they're the best! There are some good bars all over town: Oscars, Varsity, and "The Hog's Head" (?) I think that is what it's called. It's near the cinema. These are all great.

Personal spending habits
England is a much more expensive country and so in general, I spent more on everything. If you are over there during the spring semester though, be warned, you will have a MANDATORY 3 weeks Spring vacation. You are NOT ALLOWED to stay at the school. (I did hear of a few exchange students who paid extra to stay in some off campus housing but as for my corridor, we had people staying in our rooms while we were gone due to a confrence...we had to leave!) I therefore, travelled around Europe with a friend for 3 weeks. One of the best times I've ever had (and one of the most expensive too!)

Get a student rail card. They are fairly cheap and will save you a bundle if you plan to travel.

Not really. I'm actually glad I didn't know anyone really....I was forced to make friends and I still keep in touch with them!

Final comments
It's a great place and I wish I could go back and do it all over again. Careful for a few words here and there. A rubber=eraser. Torch=flashlight. There's more but I won't ruin the surprise for you!

I found the acting class I took to be a ton of fun...I was the ONLY non-british person there but I made some great friends and had some fun while I was at it.

Sounds weird but, Give more tests and quizzes. We only had one or two big ones and they are made out to be such a HUGE deal (you need a pass to get into the classroom and your id to make sure that no one is there taking it for you) it's rather intimidating. There were a few papers that we had to write so that was alright.
