“Great learning and living environment”
Andrew B
Germany, Graduate
Environmental Sciences, 2019
Overall
The university in Freiburg benefits from being in one of the best places I've ever lived or even been to. The atmosphere is great, there are many, many recreation options ranging from cultural events to outdoor activities. The university is very accessible with high quality staff and faculty. The programs are wonderful, incorporating many different methods of teaching and learning, not simply always sitting in lecture halls. The campus is integrated into the city so you don't feel isolated in some far of campus, making it easy to do errands, go out to eat, meet friends, and access everything needed for daily life.

If you are looking to have a good time, go to Freiburg...if you are trying to advance academically, try a different University with less exchange students.

“Great teaching and an example of efficiency”
Philippe R
Germany, Graduate
Sociology, 2022
Overall
My master is in Sociology and the courses were really interesting because the syllabus changed a bit to fit with the crisis we are living around the world. My teachers were really helpful and reasonable, always making sure that we understand how the university works and that we get the idea of the readings and the class. I really enjoy the debates and discussions we have during some of the classes with other students, because we get different points of view or different opinions according to the reality of each person and there are lots of international students (myself included).

Although there is your independence and lack of deadlines- don't make the mistake of putting things off till the last minute_ The papers are a bear and do require more time than average American student standards!

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Because this University doesn't have a campus housing, Freiburg is a town where you can move quick from one place to another one and in a house I can live with other students.

Personal comments
Housing was cheap and you could choose with how many people you wanted to live with. I lived at a student residence made by different student apartments.
