Because most of the students are from different countries, everything is in English at university. The most dificult is to get used to different accent (Thai, Indian, Chinese...) but it is quite funny. outside the campus, I was amazed to see how many people can speak basic English, or try to understand you through signs for example.

I wish I had known...
There's always something surprising when you are visiting a completely different culture, but nothing special to mention. It's of course advisable to gather some information in advance, for example the 'Lonely Planet' is a good investment.

Personal recommendation
As the university has a French president, there are several advantages for French students. I think, all students should be treated equally, despite their nationality.

Final comments
Thailand as well as the neighbouring countries are worth a stay. Still, as concerns Thailand, you should try to tolerate the annoying sex tourism as you'll get to see Thai women and foreigners almost everywhere. It's also important to accept that most Asian people have a different attitude towards work and are usually rather quiet till they get to know you. Just remember not to lose your patience and stay friendly.

It's a campus full with many other nationalities such as Lao, Vietnam, Myanmar, India, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, etc. Students are tend to form a circle of own nationality. But as long as u are willing to break the ice, making friends with others by speaking English is not a problem.

As concerns nightlife, you should buy the Metro magazine, which lists the best restaurants, clubs, bars and so on monthly. There are different sports possibilities on campus, like swimming pool, golf course, tennis courts, badminton courts, squash courts, football grouds, table tennis and gym. Therefore, it is not necessary to go somewhere else. If you are interested in culture, you can find temples and buddhas almost everywhere in and around Bangkok. But also a visit in Ayutaya, Chang Mai and Chang Rai is of interest. If you have some time off, you can easily go travelling to one of Thailand's beautiful islands (Kho Chang or Kho Samui are rather pieceful with less tourists, whereas Kho PhiPhi or Phuket are filled with tourists) or spend some time in neighbouring countries, like Laos (absolutely the most amazing in my opinion), Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore or Myanmar. Moreover, as flights are quite cheap, you can book a flight to exciting Hong Kong.

Advice for people applyng
Nixie S

This is my first time reviewing a univeristy after studying because I want to advice you before applying here.

After arriving here, I got to know that this is a place you bargain, you bargain for your scholarship and it works. I normally dont bargain because it is an institution but it is not worth it if you didn’t bargain the initial scholarship that was offered to you.

All AIT students I have met have scholarships so don’t settle for the initial offer. I wish someone told me this so that is why I am telling you.

I have a bad image of this institution because of this, I feel it was unfair that you need to bargain and negotiate here. It gives an image that the institute is a vegetable where you bargain for the best price. I hope they help students that don't bargain like me.
