Housing was bloody expensive... Food in the "mensa" (university restaurant) is quite unaffordable, and concerning travel, gas is more expensive than in France. Globally, the living standard in Germany is higher than in France.

Personal comments
Financially, search carefully your accomodation with regard to the price. Cost-saving : buying a good Steakbrot supplies your evening food for 4-5 days, a Bratwurst is cheap and keeps you fit! If you live really near to school, use a bicycle, even if it's very cold.

Final comments
Take several scarfs, gloves,... for the cold.
For nightlife, if you like electronic music and rock/metal, it's excellent.
If you live near the "Burg", you don't need a laptop, just use computers there.
If you intend to stay just one semster, it is useless to buy one, every student goes nearly every day on the web.

Personal comments
The problem is that local people know that students are hardly looking for accomodation, so they rise prices a lot. And there is no government help as in France for housing costs. But the quality of housing is excellent.

If you're there, you should go to Frankfurt for daylife (animations on the Zeil) and nightlife (U60311). The best thing to do there is to search good local websites announcing events, concerts... on this region.
