OK that this could be arranged, but negative that I had to pay for the full semester (6 months) although I only stayed for 5 months. Also, be sure to check when you can get your key, otherwise you might have to wait for a day or so to get in to your appartment.

My favourite bar: Murphy's Law. Irish, of course. Don't miss the Plärre in beginning of May. It's an amusement park open for a week with a lot of people and happenings.

I had studied German for three years, but had not used it that much for almost 10 years. It quite quickly came back to me, though, and with the help of a big smile I managed most situations. The studies were different because we had courses both specially designed for foreign students and ordinary university courses. The teachers in courses for foreign students used a clear language and spoke quite slowly, so there was no problem there. As form the courses at the university - well, that's different in different areas. I chose an area I probably would have had trouble with even studying in my own mother tongue... My mistake... :)

I wish I had known...
The information I had about the campus and the university proved to be inadequate. Watch out, Internet sources are not the only ones to check!

Talk to the teachers when you arrive. Explain that you are a foreigner, they will help you with where to find materials etc.

Final comments
Check the Tourist information for information on local attractions. We were also able to get quite cheep train tickets (for travels within Bavaria, 5 persons ~ 20€).

Expenses
Main source of funding:
Government assistance
Other sources of funding:
Family<br> An ERASMUS grant
Work opportunities:
I didn't want/need to work
Personal spending habits
Costs of living in Germany and prices of food are slightly lower than in Finland. At the same time I wanted to take the chance to travel and look around so I clearly spent more money on that than I should have if in Finland.
