Buy your food at dicounters, bring your own alcohol. don't underestimate the costs of additional luggage in the airplane. buy a bike as soon as possible. speak english, even if you have the possibility to speak your home-language

From sweeden you can travell alot, because the price are good if i compare with spain. You have a lot of place where you can visit, and in winter the view is really amazing.

Student Pub in the university is a good place to have fun. Besides, there are pubs and discos in the city center. But if you are coming from a bigger city than Halmstad, you might be disappointed. However, even though Halmstad is not a big city, there are considerable amount of activities to choose.
