Dusseldorf is a very well located city, from which you can reach easily many places, both in the region and the rest of germany, and also the Netherlands. If you need help with your studies or any other problems don't hesiate to ask the international office of the university, they are always available for helping students out with any problems. If you wanna travel somewhere for a very cheap price, try mitfahrgelegenheit.de a system where you can join someone that goes by car to the same place as you. Also couch surfing is very popular in Germany. Experience as much as you can!

“Transculturalism in Düsseldorf”

I am studying "transculturism- media, languages, texts" . It is a new study course, as it has been introduced to my university, about 1 year ago. With the course transculturism, you can actually choose your main focus of studying. Two language studies and a few given lectures are a must. Other than that, you can choose freely. I have made media studies my main focus and am very happy with that.
The classes are very big sometimes, which makes it harder to focus, but if you are eager enough to succeed, this should not be a problem.

very close to many central european destinations. take care about accomodation if host university decides on its own: it should be close either to the city centre or to the college, depending on your preference, but some were sent very far from both, in Krefeld.

Hello everybody!
My name is Abdullah and I have been living in Düsseldorf-Germany since 3 months. I am currently studying a Master's degree in English Linguistics and Translation at Heinrich-Heine-Universität which is considered as one of the best universities in teaching my field in all over Germany. I would like to do my PhD in Translation between English and German after I make my Master's degree done soon.
I am currently living in Düsseldorf which is really super nice city where you can see many and different nationalities. I can say that Düsseldorf is one of the best German cities for foreigners as there are many restaurants that serve many types of international food. Moreover, people here are so friendly and cooperative. I still remember one of the greatest situations that I had; That was when a German old man accompanied me by himself to the foreign residence authority while I was looking for the location of the foreign residence authority in Düsseldorf and I could not get over there by myself. Finally I got my destination and that was super nice situatoon I had.
Thanks!
Abdullah.

Rent cost is high in the city so many students commute from elsewhere
