Language skills? I didn't learn anything in France that I didn't know before. Just learned that my accent was funny. Studies? I came back more stupid than I was when I left. All of my peers are more advanced and sharp than I am after a year of not being able to ask question and brainstorm because professors are not there to interact. You are told what to do, your personal thinking doesnt go into it. Everyone ends up with the same project and lab report because they copy it from the students from previous year that did the same the year before and so on and so on.... someone say PERJURISM?!?!

Travel tips... save up, go away on breaks. Dont stay on that dead miserable campus and town. Travel is relatively cheap if you take it one step at a time and plan accordingly. Europe is quite open and with a French visa you can go almost everywhere. Italy, Germany, Belgium, Amsterdam, Portugal, Spain, France.... I've been in major places on 1 to 2 weeks break on a nearly 1000 dollar budget for each trip.

Studying at INSA-Lyon is very hard, students work a lot there and techers are very strickt. But the student life after school is lots of fun!

I think everybody should go for an exchange in some other country. No matter how hard the studies were, I would definately repeat it if I was given a possibility!

The location of the university is a bit out of town hence there is not a lot of life which might put off some people, but the town center makes up for that loss.
The people are nice, the quality of education is good and the city is beautiful. And there are plenty of activities in the university to suit everyone's interest. So it is a nice place to be.

A bicycle would be a good idea to save some money. The ski slopes are closeby, so have a go at skiing when you are there.
A railway student card gets significant discounts so get it made. And then visit Paris in the summer.
Geneva is next door so have a look into it.
And if someone is planning to travel europe then a Eurolines bus pass is the best way to proceed. It is cheap and the trip is very adventurous.

L'INSA Lyon est une bonne école dans son ensemble. Elle offre aussi de bonnes opportunité pour les études à l'étranger, avec tous ses partenariats.
C'est une école essentiellement axée généraliste, ce qui permet d'être à l'aise dans tous les domaines. Attention toutefois, le manque de spécialisation peut être un problème pour ceux qui cherche des débouchés dans un secteur précis.
Question vie périscolaire, c'est sûrement une des meilleures!

It is on of the best engineering schools in France, however, seeing as the French system is so different from the bachelor system that most of Europe and other parts of the globe use it is slightly harder for internationals in case they aspire to seek job placements in other countries. There is also a relatively new more conventional bachelor's program however which seems promising.

Comme énoncé dans le titre il est parfois difficile de progresser sur certaines notions notions tant certains professeurs peuvent se montrer peu concernés voire hautains vis-à-vis de leurs étudiants pourtant triés sur le volet; ce n'est heureusement pas le cas de tout le corps enseignant, et de plus, rien que les étudiants ne peuvent surmonter.
