My accomodation was more expensive, although I was sharing my apartment. The telephone was really expensive as well. The prices in Budapest are more or less the same as in Holland, only public transportation is really cheap.

Rackert, Romkert, and the other outdoor places during the summer can be fun. Avoid the Kozgaz Pince club like the plague. The house parties could be fun, but the ISC doesn't have nearly enough decent females and the crowd was usually the same at every party, but at least there weren't too many Hungarians.

many teacher s speak a quite good english, but there are also a lot of teacher that suffer from a proper english communication ability. The Hungarian students usually speak fluently English and German/French, as they are forced to speak two languages at least fluently in order to gain access to the university. IN my opinion they speak English significantly better than the students at my home university. Usually they also speak a thrid language quite good. So there are no problems of communication with the students. A lot of Hungarians living in Budapest speak German, so be careful if you speak German because a lot of people understand you!

It was an enormous flat, very cheap, that I shared with 2 spanish students. It was pretty close to the university, and all at a very good price.

Can't miss: Sir Lancelot(restaurant where you have to eat with your fingers). Fatal(restaurant where you can't manage to eat all the food you get). Old man's pub(pub with very nice atmosphere),The Dock(big disco, have to bee there, one of the most expensive disco in town, beside Bank and Citadell). The university disco "kÖzgas" is also good...and not expencive).Fat mo's(pub/disco)..always a lot of people. You also have to visit one of the outdoor bath- Gellert and the one in the Vörösliget park is good. The castle hill is a must. So is the Gellert topp from where you can see the whole city.
