I wish I had known...
It is far the most undeveloped country in the EU, a lot of beggars and full of contradictions. the culture of the people can be very annoying. Fights are a very common scene.

If you would just like to party and enjoy an international experince you should go, because exams are at the elementary school level, so you will be able to dedicated all of your time for other things. dont shop at MiniPreco, because it is MiniShit. travel with your friends. try to see the whole Portugal because it is a beautiful country. Study Portuguese on your own.

Teachers do not care especially about international students. Courses are often delayed or cancelled.

All this experience I can describe as best in my life! I love Portugal and especially Lisbon! I am different person now, more adult and independent. Finally I know what I want. But school wasn't as well organised as in my home country as well as courses but people there were extremly nice and helpful.

For me Portuguese was a very hard language to learn. The pronouncation of the language is very hard. Between the young generation in portugal it's no problem to communicate in english. With the older community there sometimes it is quite hard to understand them or make them clear that you don't understand them. Especially for things like open a bank account, getting a tax number it is very helpful to have a native speaker aside or have at least basic knowledge in the language.

Expenses
Main source of funding:
Family
Other sources of funding:
Personal savings<br> An ERASMUS grant
Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options
Personal spending habits
Food is in general cheaper than in Austria. of course your phone bill is higher if you talk to your family and friends at home. nightlife is cheaper than in Vienna, but if you go out at least 3 times a week you spend a lot. As I didn´t want to set something aside and the time during erasmus is so intensive, it happens that you squander money!
