As a University in the tropics, James Cook has wide experience in the teaching and research of areas such as Marine Biology, Environmental Studies, Tropical Medicine, and Asian/Pacific Development Studies, thereby embracing all that the region has to offer.
However, JCU is a comprehensive university and teaches in disciplines ranging from IT, Business, and Engineering to Medicine and Law. Not is JCU comprehensive with respect to the disciplines offered, it is also present in 4 locations in Australia: Townsville, Cairns and for students in Business or Tourism, also in Melbourne and Sydney.
