Personal comments
in my experience, the way post-graduate courses are organised in giessen does not put sufficient emphasis on the two-way communication between students and professors. therefore, the courses tend to be quite boring. typically, a student makes a presentation, and he/she and the professor then discuss the topic of his/her presentation, but the other student hardly participate at all.
