Jyväskylä is a very warm city in social terms. There are several events to promote the exchange between different cultures. Also, because it´s a student city and not very big, you easily feel like you are at home. The courses are very up-to-date and the teachers create a very interactive and good environment in classes.

try to go in August to participate in the intensive Finnish course! Don't study all the time, use the weekends to travel around: Lapland, Helsinki, Tampere, Turku, the snow castle in Kemi, make a cruise to Sweden, go to Estonia and don't miss St.Petersburg and Moscow... and who knows, may be you meet someone very special in Suomi

i was first very impressed by the organisation (reservation, office, tutors...) made by the host university. Then, I really appreciate the facilities in the student village(laundry, shops, sauna..) and in the rooms (internet access, phone). Although the buildings were quite far from the university/center (especially during winter), there were also nice, safe, had a good atmosphere and were close to lake, forests and skiing slopes.

Many favourite night clubs...:) The city centre is not THAT big, so you have everything in one spot. Convenient... Lots of nice cafes. The Jyväskylä Summer events are not to be missed and also the thousand lakes ralley.
