I have the chance to live in my boyfriend's flat, so I don't spend more than in my parents' house! The food is quite cheap, especially in the "students' restaurants"! You can eat Schnizels for very cheap around the University! The nightlife is also very cheap compared to France, although the concept is different; here it's more Pubs than Clubs, that explains the difference of the price you pay (160 ATS in France to get into a Club, and here between 20 ATS and 50 ATS!)

It's good to have money on your bank account for the interest rate! Note: all the question are in the past tense, like it was over, but I'm still in Graz, and I plan to stay here!!!!

Si j'avais su
Everybody should go abroad! I've been for 6 months to Los Angeles, then right the way for 1 year in Exeter in England, and 3 weeks later, I was in Austria! When you start travelling, you can't stop it anymore! It's a real passion to discover other ways of life! Although now I'll settle down here! Before you go? Keep in your mind the beginning will probably be hard! But it worth it!

As I said previously, I do not belong to the main University. The campus is huge, although it's not really a campus. Before, all the building were spread around the city, but now they made it easier and tried to keep everything close. The Business building is really nice, and there's a lot of students, as well as a lot of facilities.

It's just wonderful to be a student! I'm now finished with my studies (I had the graduation in June 2001 in England), well, I'm still learning german until February and then I'll start to work, but the best experiences I had were abroad. JUST DO IT!

Austria offers a lot of places to visit. Don't miss Vienna and Salsbury! Prague and Budapest are not that far as well.

Don't pack so many summer clothes. You'll rarely need them, especially during the school months.

As an exchange student, the school is pretty slack, so not much to worry about. Not very challenging sometimes, though.

If you are under 26 years of age, get a student discount card from the train station and you can travel for half-price on trains anywhere within Austria. Once you have it, if you are traveling back to Austria, only buy a ticket to the border and then buy your Austrian-portion of the trip from the conductor or at an Austrian train station before you leave the country.

Engaging place to think over your life goals

It was a very exciting time that gave me a great push to rethink over my life priorities and make changes for the better life. While studying in UNI Graz I got many new contacts both with professors and students, I could have a look at a new stydy model that was opposite to that I got used when I studied in Russia. And it was the main reason for me to turn my study vector to new perspectives that based on new way of achieving my purposes. For sure the study atmosphere with completely new principles of behaving at classes, both professors and students, influenced my results and motivation to continue study abroad. To summorize I want to say if you have opportunity to visit UNI Graz and study there, do not stop, just go there and start.

The food was a bit cheaper in Austria than here in Finland. However, I was so lazy that most of the time I ate outside so, which wasn´t the cheapest way. My girl friend was in an other country at the same time so of course my phone bills were pretty huge. Housing was a bit cheaper than here in Finland. Nightlife...cheap Beer, but * many times! Austria is ideally located -> my bank account knows that now.

Open your own bank account in Austria. Visa was not valid everywhere so one usually had to carry pretty much cash..
