Karl Franzens Universität Graz (KFUNIGRAZ)

Well, I'm not an ordinary student. I'm learning german in a school (Vorstudentlergang), which is a prerequisite before learning at the University. I have 5 hours german a day, and the courses are really well done. Regarding the University itself, I know that it's hard sometimes to get the courses you want because of too many demands (students are queuing since 4 in the morning!!!!), but the communication with teachers (the good ones of course!) is really good.

There is really too many papers to fill in! But this is not only regarding the academic life! That's the way it is, we have to get used to it! It's only 2 months I'm here, but everything is wonderful the hard start!

Check with your home university before going to get a list of courses that have transfered in the past and try to match those up with current courses offered that are of interest and use to you personally.

Take the more challenging courses, even if you are unsure of your chances of succeeding. The professors are pretty good about giving more slack to exchange students (since they know they don't have to actually give you a diploma at the end of your studies).

move very quick and start thinking of them as soon as possible, from your home country possibly. Then, attendance is very important for some courses and teachers give a strong attention to your presence and to your interaction during the course. Be active!

Just.. if you have some essays or kind of "homeworks", do them soon after your lessons and live your Erasmus student life after it.

Do a lot of courses. Otherwise you will be bored. As an exchange student you are not under that much pressure so it is a good idea to pick up something completely new for your spare time like a new language.

the system of ects credits was never really properly explained to me at the beginning so I wasn't sure how many courses to take, I just had to figure it out myself.

I decided to choose pretty many courses in the beginnig and after a while a quited the courses that didn´t interest me or I didn´t have enough time.

It was pretty hard to do the exams because the time limit was rather strict compared to my home university. Bitte, mehr Zeit für ERASMUS-Studierende.. :)

Try to decide the courses you will attend before they start. I had no idea at the beginning and it was very confusing!

I would try to create more opportunities of contact between host-students and austrian students
