I wish I had known...
Nothing really exept that I probably would have tried to be placed in a lower level for the language programme so that my grammar may have been improved. But then again I probably would have found the lower speaking ability of my classmates frustrating-no win situation! I think I may be a unique case though in that my level of Japanese varies in different aspects of the language.

Best feature: the people you meet and fun you have with both international and local students. Worst: At the higher levels, I don't think the language programme is that suited to people with European/English language background, but it you combined the language programme with regular classes it would be more interesting and beneficial.

Even though I didn't find the language programme to be that great and wished I had have made the effort to take regular classes, I had a wonderful year - probably the best year of my life. Basically you just need to decide what you want out of the year and do everything you can to make it happen. In Japan you sometimes just have to be persistant and patient to work your way through the rules and regualtions, but it's all worth it in the end.

As I had already visited Tokyo for a three weeks a year prior to my studies there, I felt that I was well prepared.

Keio Business School is the Top MBA school in Japan. It is very small, though, so don't expect anything big and fancy (such as Columbia Business School in NYC). The courses are good, but the workload was a bit less than expected. My overall evaluation is that it was a great experience and a perfect way to learn more about the japanese business environment and practice.

Not many people speak English, so it is very helpful to learn basic phrases etc before you go to Tokyo. People are very polite and helpful, so if you get them to understand what you are looking for etc they will always help you find it, even if it requires a lot of effort from them.

The Japanese course was very, very tough! If you did't study it before it takes a lot of time.

Overall
I did my Ph.D. in computer engineering at Keio university/japan
my experience was amazing, Keio university offers a higher quality of research and the best professors who are very supportive. The university life was excellent with a good library and database with rich resources and books. The university has good facilities like clean dorms, swimming pool, sports clubs, and regular events for international students.

Keio University encourages a studious atmosphere and students are very driven to work hard and accomplish their goals and desired career. Programs like zemis (small group consisting of students and a professor) allow students to have closer relationships and conversations with their professors.
