Si j'avais su

Living situation. Would have been much better if I was living in dorms with other students. Could have gotten to know more people and wouldn't have had problems getting in touch with people.

There was nothing great about the university. I went here because it was reasonable to afford, not very far from central London, and had some small city culture.

Always travel with only one travel buddy. Make sure that you have a lot in common with this travel buddy. Try to go out and do things with this buddy that you like to do usually. If he/she resists or doesn't like most of the things you like, then better choose some one else, b/c you are going to have a horrible time. It would be better to travel alone in that case.

The courses offered at Kingston are varied and my current course (biomedical science) is accredited with the royal society of biology.. The modules offered are good and the course content is generally well covered. However, the teaching could be improved with some lecturers being much better at teaching than others. I would say the quality is average. They are not bad but not great either (with the exceptions of a few amazing lecturers - Dr Natasha Hill for example) The support system is lacking as those with mental health issues or disabilities often feel overlooked and do not know where to go for help. The lecturers do not read the summary of support needs and often fail to provide the support required/offered in the report.

Inform better before you go to the host country, which courses they would credit you. Take care because at our university they take 2 courses to credit one, because of the several weeks missing (trimester)

Pourquoi?

the room in the hall of residence is too small for living. There is no table in the kitchen. We have to sit on the floor or our own bedroom to eat. (the hall is at Kingston Hill campus)

You can avoid using the telephone a lot, so that cuts down. Text messanging (SMS) is very popular and cheap. There are some good pay-as-you-go mobile phone deals out there. Housing's about the same. For travel, find the budget airlines (but DO NOT use coach buses! They are terrible!) Trains and buses are very good as well; there are a variety of different tickets and fares.

When you go shopping for yourself (and you will have to because British students cook for themselves most of the time), plan out your meals for the week and buy those ingredients. It saves you money and ensures that you won't waste anything. Buy in bulk if possible, but be careful because, remember, you need to CARRY HOME your items. If you live in the residence halls, keep the place clean! They check the flat for damages and hygiene, so if it's dirty, they'll charge you £11 each time. Choose your public tranportation pass WISELY; there are STUDENT DISCOUNTS on public transportation (One is for the trains only, the other is for ALL TRANSPORT, be careful which one you use).
