Edge Hill University was an experience I will never forget. I still remeber the day we left for Edge Hill like it was yeaterday, this was the happiest day of my life. I loved every second of it and did not want to leave. The people at Edge Hill made me feel as though i was actualy English which made me feel at home. The students learn alot from you as well as you learning alot from them. The faculty and staff at this wonderful institution were very helpful and loved having american students in his or her class. If i had to do this experience again i would do it faster than a heart beats. Edge Hill University is an experience that helped me to become more independant as well as grow up as a person which is what i need to do before i graduated. This experience really opend my eyes to tons and tons of many things and i am very very very thankful to have gone to Edge Hill. I still keep in touch with many of my friends that i met in europe. Edge Hill University is a great institution that helps students grow as well as provide them the opportunity to learn both outside the classroom as well as inside. Thanks Edge Hill for an unforgetable experience that will burn alive in my heart for ever. Rob Honzo Edge Hill Fall of 99

I wish I had known...
That it is not always easy to meet local students. At the beginning I had much more international friends than British friends.
That it is so difficult to come back home after one year in Lancaster.

It is a very international university. You will have the opportunity to meet people from almost everywhere in the world and to get to know more about the British culture). Therefore the university is used to welcoming international students and everything is arranged for your own convinience. A lot of facilities are directly on campus (library, bookstore, bank, etc)

Lancaster University is definitely worth visiting. It is a great Erasmus destination (despite the weather)which is REALLY international.
To reach it, Liverpool and Manchester are the closest airports (From Paris I suggest you to take Easyjet to Liverpool). If you want to travel the train is a good solution but is not always reliable. So if you are really have to be on time, take an early train.
People from Lancaster are very nice and helpful. So if you feel lost do not hesitate to ask for some help.

You will love it if you don't want to venture into a big city like London or Manchester.

To be honest, I was glad that I didn't know too much about Lancaster/England in general. Each new thing that I learned was all a part of the process.

I had a great experience at Lancaster. They really love their international students, so you do not feel like you don't belong (after all, I think about 40% of the school is from abroad). It was one of the best schools for Linguistics and I really couldn't have asked for anything more! I think anyone would say that about wherever they were.

Don't segregate yourself! Meet the locals. Go home with them and meet their families (esp. for the holidays).

I've just finished my first year of my undergrad degree at Lancaster Uni and I've loved it. The campus is beautiful and relaxing even in the midst of exam season (a short walk on the woodland trail is perfect as a revision break). All the staff I've come across are invested in giving students the best opportunities possible and helping us prep for the future. There are lots of great societies for every type of person out there and lots of fun events put on by the student union. All in all I've found it a really easy place to just get stuck in and work hard on my degree whilst making a life for myself away from home.
