Housing
Type of housing: A room exchange
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: A room exchange
Why?
It's the best way to meet other people, specially other students.

Since the university itself, is in the city, housing would have to be also. So, I found a place in a building, which coincidently was a students buildins from my department. The outside appeareance of the building is extremely discouraging, but the inside is perfectly acceptable. The stairs are extremely narrow (which is a problem when one has to carry a big suitcase all the way to the fith floor) and there's no elevator. The room was spacious, the kitchen was enourmous, the bathroom had weating... It was great to live in such a building, because usually all the students would get together in the kitchen to socialize, which was a great way to start meeting people.I would have to say that the only bad thing about housing was the price, since it was twice as higher than I normally pay in POrtugal.

I guess it always depends on what kind of flat you come across and with what kind of people you live, I was lucky in this respect.

The university does not offer any accomodation, though they are very helpful to find something. Due to the high number of students, it is not such a big problem.
