Make sure everything is clear with your home university before going (equivalence, scholarship,...)

Big uni, well located in the city (check out the Englisher Garten next to it). Be autonomous, don't expect a great help from teachers or administration. I mean they're nice but not really available for students...

Munich is an attractive city, clean and safe, but make sure you taste the Real Bavaria (Chiemsee, the Alps...) and MittelEuropa (CH, CZ, A, SK). Take part in most excursions & the Orientierungskurs offered at the beginning. A first a Münchner might look sober and not willing to talk much, but wait till you share a Mass of Helles with him! Mit freundlichen Grüssen.

That you have to pay to register for courses (not a lot - about 10-15DM per course) and you also have to pay for the photocopies from the lectures (which cost anything from 5 to 50 DM). This put me off some courses as I didn't think it was worth paying for the lectures.

Nightlife is excellent. The university itself is probably a bit too big and impersonnel and I found it quite hard to get a lot out of lectures. There are probably too many English/Irish/American students there (i.e. I spent a lot of my time with them as it was hard to meet other German students and my German suffered as a result).

When you register for health insurance make sure they give you your health insurance card (they didn't give me one so I had to pay for medical treatment). Go (from British Airways)offer the cheapest flights to Munich from the UK and it takes about 40 mins on the train to reach the city centre. Munich is probably one of the more expensive places to live in Germany (which makes it about the same as the UK so its still not too expensive). There are also a lot of tourist trap bars and shops in the city centre so beware.

Unfortunately,  my university is not listed on your website. My uni has some amazing teachers, and we had some interesting and useful  events before corona times. However, our administration, accommodation, accounting and career departments work extremely bad. Accounting and accommodation department always try to fool you with extra options and unnecessary payments, while administration always on meeting or lunch break.
Career departments show you how to use google and find an example of CV, then they have more important things to do.

For such a discounted education compared to the US, I would recommend to anyone wanting to get a masters, to get it in Germany. Although you will have to do much more self-learning, they provide you with everything you need as long as you have the work ethic to perform at the necessary level.

LMU has been a wonderful university with almost as many student incentives/opportunities as any university back home.

I think it is a good university for economics, I think it is the second one in Germany, but students try hard, very hard, and sometimes it is difficult to pass the exams, they don't make many concessions with erasmus students.

I went to Berlin, Innsburg, Salzburg, Prague, there are a lot of pretty close places to go! Students Hostals are very cheap and most of them are nice and clean.

Pleasant winter semester at the LMU

Overall
I spent one winter semester at the LMU at the faculty of Literature and it was overall an enriching experience. Classes start relatively late (October) but the university gives enough time and support for Erasmus students to choose adequate courses. Teachers also take into account each individual exchange student, and I felt mostly included in the German student life and community.
