I wish I had known...
Yes, I wish someone had given me an honest feedback about the master...their own point of view like I'm doing now...the only person I could get in touch with and get "feed-back" about the program was a past student who was also friend of the program coordinator so maybe the only information I had about the master was a little biased

A memorable, once-in-a-lifetime experience but with lack of transparency and a very bad career services.

Overall
I enrolled in the Master in Insurance & Risk Management (MIRM) program, this is by far my experience:

The most important point if you're a non-European student like me: The program is nice but it's quite unfair towards a non-European student. The career service is abysmal, incompetence and unprofessional, and the worst is that they will take care of the Italians and Europeans student first, and the left-over is for you. Although they advertise a very high percentage of employment (91%) if you plan to use the program as a platform to find internships/jobs in Europe. It's gonna be very tough for you and the chance you land a job in Europe may be less than 10%.

However, if you decide to spend to one year in this program, you will have an unforgettable experience and a chance to learn so much about working/studying in an international environment. The class will generally consist of professionals from around the World, about 10-15 different countries in total. In addition, if you want to have a chance to improve your soft skill and management ability, the program offers the "Leadership Dynamics" program. However, in the event that you happen to be an introvert and technical, mathematical individual, you may find that the intensive leadership dynamics maybe so annoying to you.

In terms of the academic side, you will have the chance to learn a lot about insurance, enterprise risk management, compliance, how a financial services company work in general and a very tiny bit about actuary. This means that the program has no focus at all as it wants to appeal as many students as possible to collect more tuitions. It combines the three main disciplines: quantitative (math, actuary, engineer); qualitative (business writing, law, compliance) and management (business administration) together. Therefore, if you're looking for a chance to enlarge your experience and knowledge across different disciplines, this is for you, if you want to be laser-focus in one discipline, don't choose this program. Also, one plus point you will have the chance to learn about Solvency II, which is very important for the Insurance industry right now.

The teaching is quite bad as some professors are very boring and Italian English is quite sleepy and not so understandable -> will make you fall asleep most of the times during the lectures. However, the reading materials are quite good, some come from the top consulting firms (the big 4, or BBM) and so you can keep them for future reference.

The program is quite intensive and stressful. Most of the time you won't have time to rest. So be careful.

Having said all that, the program, in my opinion, is still very very interesting as it enhances your international experience and equips you with knowledge from opposite disciplines, which I think in today world is very useful. One final point, you will create friendships that you don't even think possible before.

Pros
International environment, a variety of interesting subjects, Trieste is beautiful and peaceful, unforgettable experience, chance to enlarge your network with professional from all around the world
Cons
terrible career service, lack of transparency, a large variety of subjects but has no focus on one particular discipline, uninteresting elective courses, unfair treatment toward non-European students, some lectures are bad at speaking English and boring

Course recommendations
There is a HUGE problem with this course (actually more than one)...they have a LOT of courses and try to cover ALL of them with in just 3 hours (and I mean 3 hours in total). Hospitality (hotels) have the most number of hours which is insane, the proportion is like 40% of all courses are hospitality 20% general management and then divided the 40% remaining between dozens of courses that they wish to teach but do not succeed. By the end of the course you have listened to soooo many teachers that you don't remember who said what anymore. Some of them don't even speak good english wich makes it really hard to follow. If you are interested in tourism (and not hospitality) forget about this master..it will get you no where...in fact many people in my class had to settle with jobs and internships they didn't want because the school has mainly HOTEL partners and were not able to find other kind of opportunities The exams! They are really unbelievable because no matter how much you study you will only pass them if you are able to find the most hidden answer in the book (I mean, powerpoint slides because we NEVER got any books to study from). All exams are open book, so the questions are really meant not to make you think but to waste time looking for a really really really hidden answer.

Personal comments
Oh boy, where to begin? Well, all I have to say is that many of us tried to give feedback (because one thing I must say is that we did meet with the program manager and director very often which was good) and the answer we got was: oh, that is strange, it is the first time someone has said that to us. So if you don't say something that has already been said before, it will be unlikely taken into account.

A management school, which is not well organised. Some of the 5 star reviews are from people currently working at MIB. If you do not have experience in finance, math, or economics and management in general, it will be very difficult to follow the courses and learn the content. Besides, the MBA is fully focused on Insurance, so company visits  and study cases are mostly on that topic. The Final Project is not guided, what lead to many students to write a project that lacked business relevance, according to the examinators. Even if approved, was heavily critizised - the learning processes of the last step was not as satisfactory as it could be.

The courses are not well balanced, while key topics should be well developed, such as accounting, finance, management, marketing, business development, and others. The agenda is packed, the time to study properly is simply not available, and the load of in class hours of other non fundamental courses take too much time.

The overall mood of the students with time got very low.

It can be taken good things from every experience and this is a step that enrichens the knowledge, also professionally, everyone at some point will get a job and apply new skills and knowledge. But the year will not be what you may be expecting.

MIB Staff can make the school much better, there is the potential, and they took feedback from all of us. But there is the need of putting effort in that direction, from all the MIB staff.

I hope this review helps future candidates in asking very specific questions during the admission process, and the MIB Staff in actively build a better programme -which is possible with the resources available-, but radical changes may be necessary.

Careers
Even if students shouldn't be expecting a school to place every alumn in a job, career service doesn't have an active role, where it could take advantage of the potential of the MIB consortium, for example.

Pros
Shorter programme than other options.
Cons
Not well organised, not enough time to study, prepare exams, do group and individual work. Almost no time for complementary readings or activities -at the end almost everyone does a few other activities, but loosing time to study or attending classes.

MIB school of management offers 2 international courses-the Maters in insurance and Risk management and MBA in International business which are taught in English. Both the courses are accredited by EFMD and AMBA. The school offers courses like EMBA, Executive masters in Finance and wine management taught in Italian.
The campus is located at Largo caduti di nasiriya and is a 3 floor building with a cafeteria. Many companies like Generali,Allianz are partner companies of the school and give company presentations from time to time.
The teachers are all Phd holders in their respective field and have many years of experience.

Best pro: value for money. The courses are overall very good. You will learn a lot but of course, you'll have to be committed and dedicated. All the staff works hard to make your experience valuable and positive.
The class is a mix of "average" profiles and very skilled students: sometimes might be frustrating, but overall will train you in dealing with different profiles.
Career service is not the best: you are paying to learn, not to get the amazing connections other business schools (e.g. Bocconi or LSE) might grant. Still, the school is working to increase its connections.

Pros
Courses: it is a school where you actually learn. International enviroment. Leadership Dynamics module.
Cons
It is in Italy, and we know it's not a Country with a strong economy. Career service should be improved.
