I only lasted nine days in the dorms because it was terrible. The secretaries for the dorms were rude, the rooms were small, and the location of the campus/dorms is far from any attractions or activities.

Food is a bit more expensive, so is calling home. On a happier note, the beer here is pretty cheap and rather tasty.

Buy calling cards and call during the off hours, it costs only 0.09/minute. Expect extra insurance charges when renting a car, if you're not 25.

It is a good university though they have problems here like anywhere else (financial etc.). Overall good study facilities (for Arts students).

Caulfield is a more central and smaller campus than Clayton, try to take classes there. There a lots of Asian students at Monash, so if you are in any way interested in Asian languages and culture it might be a good place to go. Travel: Go to Canberra, it is a beautiful town.

The experience was awesome , I will remember it for the rest of my life , be careful because Australia is addictive, you may have a reverse cultural shock when you come back... well everybody has it. If you are planning to stay longer than few months think about buying a used car when you will get there, it will give you independence and it will make you save up tons of money for public transportations , you will easily sell it before you will leave the country.

don't use your bank card here...open an AUS account. Bring a credit card, keep an eye on the exchange rate if you are wiring money from overseas
