At the beginning, i was not that familarized with the American Accent because i get used to the Hong Kong (UK) english and the Dutch English (Slower). So, at the beginning i was a bit nervious to talk. Later i have more friends, go out together, group meetings, presentation and study together, graduation i built up more confident and then it is no problem for me to communication in everyday life. I also learn spanish there, because the city (Las Cruces) is closed to Mexico, where there are many Mexican speak spanish. They always suprised that i speak a little bit spanish (as i learnt in Holland), so they are nice to me and i gradually like spanish very much!

One of my majors at my home university was tecnical translation, so it did not cause me huge problems to communicate in English. I think my pronunciation has improved a lot, and I progressed in academic writing as well.
