Don't rely on others!!! Do your own thing & people will join! Be outgoing & communicative & don't wait unnecessary long until others approach you. Most professors/lecturers/teacher are approachable if there is any problem.

Try & make contacts with others who have been there or are still there!!! Ask your your course organiser or anyone if he/she has any contacts you could approach! Find other students!!!

Pourquoi?

If at all possible, it is extremely beneficial to live in a foyer with other students or young workers within a similar age group because it is afforable, and provides an opportunity to get to know natives and other Europeans.

I was very pleased with the housing option, the foyer, because it had all of the services I could need at a very affordable price. I had my own room, with a refridgerator, and shared a kitchen on my floor. Aside from that, there was a larger kitchen in the common area of the building as well as an internet/computer lab. It was very safe and there was always someone on duty to serve as the security and help for the building.

If you are going to make the best of it, speak the language (French) in AND out of the classroom. I spoke French at all times and I am virtually fluent now. It feels wonderful to immerse yourself!

Don't live on your own!!! If you intend to go out with friends, meet up at someone's place for a "warm up" since going out (esp. drinking!) is quite expensive!!! Don't take the best of the best unless you can affort it. Rather go for local brands or supermarkets own. The usual really.

Do not use traveller's checks, they are useless. Use a debit card or credit card for purchases and use the ATM machines that are plentiful.

Pourquoi?

Because of two reasons. Firstly, If you're in the city (Paris), you're very far from the university. Secondly, because on the campus you can meet all the other students and live a real student life.

i believe that the accommodation is ok, although it could be a little bit cleaner.
