I wish I had known...

I WISH I KNEW ATHENS IS A COLLEGE TOWN, WHERE YOU CAN'T EASILY FIND CERTAIN THINGS LIKE AFRICAN FOOD.

In my opinion:

I loved it but I'm not sure everybody would.

I'M GLAD TO BE GRADUATE STUDENT IN OU, PURSUING THE MPA-PROGRAM. MY ADVICE FOR EVERY AMBITIOUS YOUNG PERSON IN THE WORLD IS TO BE ADVENTUROUS ENOUGH TO VENTURE BEYOND HIS/HER HOME COUNTRY TO STUDY AND EXPERIENCE LIFE IN A DIFFERENT AND NEW ENVIRONMENT, BECAUSE IT PROVIDES AN EXCELLENT ATMOSPHERE FOR FORMAL AND INFORMAL LEARNING IN A VARIETY OF WAYS.EVERY SINGLE DAY AND HOUR THAT I'VE SPENT AT OHIO UNIVERSITY IS AS IMPORTANT TO ME AS THE DEGREE THAT I HOPE TO EARN IN JUNE, 2003.ATHENS IS WITHIN SHORT TRAVEL DISTANCES TO THREE OTHER STATES-WEST VIRGINIA, KENTUCKY, AND INDIANA. I wish I had known...

I wish I had been better equipped with hands-on knowledge about the American campus life experience... I spent a lot of "precious" time learning about it, when I could have used it in a more fruitful way.

A learning experience abroad is, in my view, essential in the formation of people who want to become specialists in any field, because a specialist nowadays needs to get to know the world before (s)he gets down to his/her work.

I wish i had carried my Indian driver's license.May b i would have been pemitted to drive in U.S.A.

They should have more Joint ventures like that with other reputed universities in India,so that many students can obtain a wonderful international student experience.

If you are tarvelling by Greyhound always buy the tickets one week in advance.Its generally a cheaper deal than purchasing the ticket last minute.Always buy phone cards when you wish to call outside USA.You save alot on that.Always work on campus legally(20 hours a week) that way even if u don't meet interesting people in classrooms you are bound to bump into them at work.You must get your international driver's licence made in your home country. the international student experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity for some of us,Never miss it.

“OU, Oh Yeah”

Overall

As a journalism major the opportunities at OU are almost endless. There are multiple student publications, great classes, knowledgeable professors, and fabulous students.

Careers

I've had multiple internships, but not through Ohio University. However, the Scripps School of Journalism sends out monthly emails filled with internship opportunities, post-grad options, and more.

Pros

As a bobcat, you'll have a whole network of alumni to work with. You may not know them yet, but bobcats stick together so you'll always have someone to reach out to.

Cons

College is hard, and after the Covid-19 pandemic things only got worse. When you need a therapist I wouldn't recommend using OU's free counseling services.
