Hate and Love for Politecnico di Milano
Federica P
Italie, Master
, 2016
Évaluation globale
I attended Management Engineering in Politecnico di Milano, I started in 2010 and got my Bachelor Degree in 2013. In the same university I also had my Master Degree in Manufacturing and Management and completed my Master in April 2016.
The first year in Engineering was the toughest in my life, a completely different environment compared to high school, the first year is common to all engineerings so a lot of maths, physics, electrical engineering, statistics etc.
Professors are really experienced and professional, and it is possible to set up appointments with them for clarifications and/or extra exercises.
Bachelor degree was a great achivement and gives you an overall preparation in different sectors, if you want to specilize in something a Master degree is almost compulsory (at least in Italy). I decided to specialize in Manufacturing and Management, where I had the opportunity to deepen some topics such as Logistics and Production.
The university offers many careers and placement services, every year a "Career Fair" took place in May where hundreds of companies could expose themselves and the students had the chance to leave their CV and also have interviews with some companies that used this event as a scounting opportunity.
The university also offers many exchanges/interships abroad and during my second year of Master I served a 3-month internship in Singapore at the Italian Chamber of Commerce, it was a great experience, it was my first approach towards the labour market in an international and lively city.
The experience at Politecnico was very tough but highly instructive and gave me the chance to experience a job abroad first and then immediately find a permanent job in Milan before I got my Master degree.

polimi is a cultural melting point, people from all regions of the world meet here to exchange ideas and add to theirs. It is truly wonderful to experience the world in such global scope.

As expected of many non-english speaking schools that offer courses in english, there are some difficulties in understanding the words spoken due to the local accent but I believe the lecturers and professors really try their best and give it their all.

While the class schedule threatens to be slightly overwhelming due to the long lecture hours, some going as far as 6 hours; it is very admirable to see the lecturers follow through every single hour of the lecture, never missing a single lecture. I also commend the swift dissipation of information and how smoothly the classes often run with a few exceptions due to technical difficulties which are most often than not, resolved effectively.

Gracious number of courses offered in English and effective communication system established between lecturers and the students
Inconvénients
First timers might struggle with getting around and familiarity due to the frequent language barrier or maybe understanding the lectures due to some strong local accent

Great experience for an international student

The university is very good in terms of the professors and course structure. The level of knowledge of the professors is really excellent and they are truly highly experienced and I've never had a bad professor. The university is trying to shift entirely into an international one but there are still traces of Italian language here and there but it is not something that is highly worrying given the fact that it is still a transition period at the university to becoming an international one.

Politecnico di Milano was a fantastic experience , from the international program where i met hundreds of people from all over the world and having each a different background in Architecture, to the teachers that where nice and helpful. The campus was a real place to study, share and participate in activities. I have experienced Milan in all the case and it was the best experience so far

The school has a very efficient tool, CareerServece, which helps students and graduates to find stages, internships and jobs offers. The offers are mainly located in Italy. They also provide some classes for CV tips and fake interviews hosted by professional figures in external companies that relate the students with the working world. As I am looking for an intership abroad I didn't find any opportunity in my field up till now.
