"vineria" at campo dei Fiori -good meeting place. "Cafe-cafe" small cafe by the Colosseo -smoking not permitted. Best event is the summer festival; almost every roman park hosts a concert! Fiesta at Ippodromo dei Campanelli is not to be missed!

Overall
There is a wide variety of courses to choose from.
Some faculties are housed in historic buildings, which adds to the overall experience.
It helps if foreign students already speak good Italian before their arrival.

I would recommand to work during the holidays before leaving because you're running quickly out of money once you live there (phone,food,rent,furnitures,...) I would also advice to get informed how you can get a grant for your experience abroad.

Overall
In my personal opinion, teachers are professional and well prepared. The university  organization is very little. This University doesn't give you the possibility to help you with your future career once you graduate, especially in the fashion word.
