Trastevere zone is great for walking around at the end of the afternoon; having dinner or something to drink at night - very beautiful and a great atmosphere. OTher cool bar spots are Testaccio, and the more touristical Campo di Fiore, always fun. Reference nightclubs are Goa and Suite. Check also the social centres like Villagio Global and Brancaleone, with cool concerts, film runnings, etc. etc... As for place and stuff, Rome is so beautiful and monumental you'll have the time of your life discovering all about it. Go to the capitol hill at night and check the forum, one of the most amazing experiences.

Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona as well as the Spanish Steps areas were generally favorites of all. There were many cafes and bookstores I liked wandering into and studying in as well, not to mention the 24 hour internet place at Piazza Barberini where I spent a lot of my time. The Orange Garden near FAO, Circo Massimo, Villa Borghese and many other places were some of my favorite places to go when the weather permitted. Great ice cream places are Giolitti, Blue Ice, and still many others.

The public places (piazze) in Rome are not to be missed! In general public life in Rome is great. Go to the Colosseum on the afternoon of December 24th! You will enjoy it. Estate Romana is also very cool. Don't celebrate New Year's in Rome (at least not at the public party of the Municipality!!!

"vineria" at campo dei Fiori -good meeting place. "Cafe-cafe" small cafe by the Colosseo -smoking not permitted. Best event is the summer festival; almost every roman park hosts a concert! Fiesta at Ippodromo dei Campanelli is not to be missed!

There are a lot of nice pubs near to the Piazza Navona and the Campo dei Fiori, as well as in Trastevere.There are so many nice things to do and to see in the "città eterna" that I can only advice to go and see it by yourselves.

San Lorenzo is an amazing neighbourhood where yo can do everything you want: taking a beer, going shopping, going to a disco, going to a exhibition... You can find the best ice-cream near Termini, the main tube station.
