“Good quality overall but with some minor flaws to adjust”
Giancarlo d
China, Undergraduate
Political Science, 2021
Overall
Sciences Po Paris is an extremely renowded university in France especially in the public administration and political science degrees. This quality teaching can be explained as the institution does host some of the most competent and renowned scholars in the fields. However Sciences Po also has very respectful results in the sociology and Economic fields. The only minor flaw that can be specified is the slow pace at which Sciences Po is undertaking a more practical approach of its studies. Despite some efforts classes in Sciences Po still lack enough perspective into the current outside environnement, especially in undergraduate classes, which remain very theoric and generalistic.

Pros
Strong quality of theoric teachings and well formed scholars who can offer their own experiences to students
Cons
Not enough perspective on practicing the acquired theory we gain through proper works and field studies

“An intellectually stimulating and highly interactive experience”
Konstantin L
Austria, Graduate
Environmental Sciences, 2021
Overall
Sciences Po Paris is definitely one of the best universities in France and in Europe and is a perfect destination for students wanting to pursue an (under-)graduate degree in political sciences, international relations, law, international economics and energy studies.
The professors have been very passionate and energetic about their field of research. Courses are usually taught by one university professor and a practicioner in the respective field, for example, an employee at EDF Trading, which makes teaching more praxis-oriented, dynamic and interactive.

Pros
Highly deducated staff and faculty, intellectually stimulating module content and interactive learning experience, a wide range of professional workshops, social events, team projects and associations
Cons
No student accomodation provided directly by the university, though Sciences Po does have a website listing all appartment postings and other types of accomodation offers by French landlords in or outside of Paris

I wish I had known...
Our home university had advised on everything we really needed to know. After that it was nice discovering things on my own. It is good to know that it is impossible to get taxis on the stree in Paris. You need to get them from specific places.

Really challenging and academically satisfying. Nobody who signs up for sciences po should expect an easy year abroad, it is hard and it needs a lot of work especially in my case where the year abroad counted towards my degree.

I would advise international students to do the STAGE D'INTERGRATION in September. Even if your French is good it is really important to do it so that you learn your way around university before the classes start.

Go but be prepared to suffer. It makes the fun bit more enjoyable. Or if you dont have to suffer, spend all of mummy and daddys hard earned cash and justify it by saying that you only live in Paris once as a student.

Bit small and far too elistist fro its own good. Believes its own propaganda. But you will have superb teachers and academic facilities. Am approaching things differently than the anglosaxon model and have actually been forced to learn stuff and not cram fot end of year exams.

Get a laptop, and ask loads of stupid but intelligent sounding question in class. In a room full of foreigners who have difficulty understanding what you are saying, you will be seen as intelligent and witty.

IEP Paris is a lot of work. More than one could imagine. At the end of it, for me, it was worth it, and I came to enjoy my stay there. However, the first 5 months of my stay, I hated the place -and so did many others. But if you don't let yourself to be scared by the first impression, it will definitely be a worthwhile experience!

I enjoyed my year in Paris, but it wasn't the typical party-hard ERASMUS year abroad.
