I wish I had known...
I can't think of any "bad" surprises - I have a friend who was in an exchange programm the year before me and she gave me a lot of insights - so, not there isn't anything.

Although the university building is rather old and they have some room problems, it has a very nice location (being in the middle of Paris)! Further the social activities at Sciences Po are amazing - sport, interest groups, parties ,... (you name it you can do it!). Last but not least I also have to say that a workable knowledge of French is really important -> learning it from stretch would be REALLY hard! Most professors kindly take into consideration that it isn't the first language, but there are some who don't!!!

Paris is a wonderful city - whatever interests one has it offers you something! I love traveling and I thouroughly enjoyed myself, since you can go pretty much everywhere for an affordable amount of money (especially when you are a student under 25!) Being student offers a lot of other advantages (e.g. the "Imagine R"-ticket for a year of transportation around the Isle de Paris or a cheap one-year-ticket for the Louvre). Finally I want to recommand to all movie fans (like my self) a subscription with one of the major movie theater - chains (it allows you to go in any performance, in any movie theater of the chain for one year)

Make sure you know exactly how your results are going to be counted back at your home university - because I was the first student from my university to do this particular exchange and beacuse the French and American evaluation systems are so different, I ran into lots of administrative problems once I returned home.

Be prepared to work very, very hard. If you have the option of going for the full academic year or just one semester, definitely choose the full year - I wish I had!!

the erasmus in sciences po was a good experience: for the quality of the univwersity, for the number of the international students that the university host, to live in a city that offer a million of chance and where you cannot get bored!

I enjoyed staying with a French family, but the experience can be challenging. Generally, you experience far more of the culture that way, with ample opportunities to improve your language skills, and learn many of the small things (table manners, talking to children vs. adults, etc.) that translate into real cultural fluency. At the same time, most of us were used to living on our own, and adjusting to family life can cause frictions. I'd stay with a family again, were I to repeat the experience, but would probably spend half the year there, and the other half in independent lodgings (like the Cite Universitaire).

Sciences Po is a rather unique institution in many ways, and has played an important role in French politics for many years. Academically, the program was challenging, but what you got out depended entirely on what you put in. The entrance exams can seem onerous, but I'd recommend giving it a shot if you're interested.

Une expérience ternie par le Covid
Amalia F
France, Undergraduate
Social Sciences, 2022
Overall

Good quality overall but with some minor flaws to adjust
Giancarlo d
China, Undergraduate
Political Science, 2021
Overall
Sciences Po Paris is an extremely renowded university in France especially in the public administration and political science degrees. This quality teaching can be explained as the institution does host some of the most competent and renowned scholars in the fields. However Sciences Po also has very respectful results in the sociology and Economic fields. The only minor flaw that can be specified is the slow pace at which Sciences Po is undertaking a more practical approach of its studies. Despite some efforts classes in Sciences Po still lack enough  perspective into the current outside environnement, especially in undergraduate classes, which remain very theoric and generalistic.

Pros
Strong quality of theoric teachings and well formed scholars who can offer their own experiences to students
Cons
Not enough perspective on practicing the acquired theory we gain through proper works and field studies
