The language classes are useful, but your best hope of learning Japanese at Senshu is to make friends with Japanese students and spend a lot of time with your host family. The other great thing about Senshu is the library building - it is huge, 5 stories high, with lots of DVD viewing lounges, and armchairs and headphones to listen to music in. Great food at the canteen too. Senshu is great, but don't expect to much from the academic side of things.

Japanese is very difficult to learn, and by no means can i claim that i am any good at it, but once you start going out and deal with people, slowly but surely you learn how to communicate. It was a huge challenge, and I did my best and got the most out of it. I would do it again!

I'd studied Japanese seriously for about two years prior to going. So it was actually very convenient for me. I know my Japanese definitely improved and I now speak with much more confidence than before.
