The amount of spanish I spoke depended on how much effort I put into it. I learned a lot, but many students did not. They simply surrounded themselves with Americans the entire time.

I loved learning the Italian language and found it necessary because the woman I lived with did not speak or understand english. I wish I continued my Italian studies because I hope to be fluent one day. The Italians are very patient people and would go out of there way to understand and help you with communication as well.
