Personal comments
I learned a lot, mainly from my host family. I spent most of my time with them and their family friends. I felt my language ability increased by doing so, I was not able to use English as a draw-back, none of them spoke my language so I was able to learn a lot. I think this an ideal way to study abroad, I didn't spend much time with the other international students. Sometimes I regret this, but would I have the family and friends I have now? It's a toss up and I'm glad I learned what I did when and how I did.

In México most of the places you go out to are antros, big discos... Neither I nor my housemates (or the people we hung out with) are big fans of this kind of clubs so we spent most of our nights out at private parties, university events (i can hightly recommend the parties of the universidad autonoma de querétaro) or in little bars with live-music. If you are into that, check out the ´Catrina´ and `Cuadros´. About the big antros just ask anyone... They are called ´Don Quintin´ or ´Alebrije´ like in all the other Mexican cities as well (of course they are, they are franchised...). Another place I liked was the ´Columpio´- check it out for yourself.

Overall
I am very pleased with the experience I had in this university. Of course there are many things that they can improve but I did learn a lot from my teachers and peers. What I loved the most, is that it is a very practical school so we learned a lot by doing. This is a huge advantage because during work, whenever I didn't know something I would just research and learn about it. They also helped me develop skills that have given me the opportunity to take on any task that appears.

Careers
The school does offer international programs and some career opportunities. The only problem I had was that when I applied to an international internship the pandemic took over the world so they had to cancel all international programs. The office is very helpful you just have to be in constant communication with them to assure you are doing everything you are supposed to.

Academic
Course recommendations
It depends pretty much. Two of the five courses I took were the best of my academic career until now, but the other three were rather a little disappointing... If you want further information about the courses, feel free to contact me directly... bastian.thomann@gmx.de

In the Tec you got the chance to change your classes after 2 weeks for the last time... So, if you really don´t know which of two courses to take, just take both and drop one after these two weeks...

Personal comments
We stayed in an awesome house in the historic center of Querétaro. I was living there with 4 other exchange students (3 French and another German) but from the first day on we only spoke Spanish. Nevertheless I would recommend to prospective Queretanos to look for a place to share with other Mexican students. Like this you will get a hang on the Mexican way of thinking even quicker... We had our semi-Mexican-semi-French girl who took care of that, as well as some Mexican friends who spent more time in our house than in their proper one... ;-)
