Personally,I studied Italian while I was here and tried to use it, but there were a lot of "ugly Americans" who seemed to think that they had the right to expect America and all it's characteristics (not limited to the language)and were even unreasonable about the quality of English the Italians spoke. When in Rome, do as the WHO do??!! Anyway, communication was a part of my own adventure.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I think you get the 'full' experience living on your own in Rome and I'm sure it's more laidback than living with a family

I guess some people may have had a bad experience because they didn't like the roomates chosen for them or their space was too small (MIKE T AND CHRIS IN THE CAVE!!! BAHAHAH) but I was lucky to get a big house and a backyard with 4 cool roomates VIA LORENZO VALLA!!!!!!

Try to learn where all the internet cafe's are because the computer lab is so small and it's hard to get access to the internet and write those papers!

I loved Campo di Fiori - Drunkin Ship and Sloppy Sams!! Also, Trinity College Pub by Via Vento. The first time I drove past the Vatican and St. Peter's at night I burst into tears, it was so beautiful. The small restaurants were the best - intimate, amazing food, and affordable. I lived in Monteverde, which was amazing because you werent overwhelmed with tourists. I love Rome!

Course recommendations
Because i was with a small group that was also teaching at MaryMount University, teaching elementart students, we had trouble working the university classes into our scheudle. We would have perfered more late classes, and more art classes that had us going out to look at the art and everything in Rome.
