Share groceries with your rommates. Budget through the semester - we were all broke towards the end! Best friend went here before me so I had a good idea of the expenses. Talk to the poeple who went before you if you can!

Rome is full of things to do in both day and night. Many of the clubs around the Testacchio area are really nice. A lot of actors and models sometimes show up there. Best cafes... I'd say make it personal. Get to know certain bars and meet the people that work there.. You'll come to find out that the personalities come forward as you frequent certain places.

The whole university spoke italian and english for the most part so that wasnt hard. As for walking around downtown, it got a little trickier. You could usually pick out the people that would be able to speak english, and if not it was sometimes easy to figure it out. They would really try to explain things to us, so it was very helpful and fun!

Italian, aside from being one of the most beautiful languages spoken on this earth, was not very hard to pick up because the natives would help you with your language skills and encouraged the use of it. I was very fortunate to become friends with locals and have my family that lives there. This was the best for me, practice really does help.

Plces I liked were Art Cafe if you have money, Goa is a great club, Grotta Pinta and Rock Castle to chill near Campo Di Fiori, and my favorite was hanging out in Old Trastevere, they have great little bars and its mostly Italians. Stay away from Campo bars unless you like being onyl with Americans. I hate the Drunken Ship and Black and White.
