We went to Campo di Fiore almost everynight. Lots of kids from the university would go over there, so you would meet up with other people. Some good places were Sloppy Sams and the Drunken Ship. The GrottaPinta was also a great after house place and Kaos etc. So many places to go to! A lot of the resident students and younger workers at the university would take us out. Definitely go on the Pub crawls, you go to so many places, and meet so many people!

When I was there in 2001, I liked Goa on Thursdays(Gianni--Patrizio!) The now de-funct club Exotica. Best times were with everyone at the Elephant Pub though in Trastevere. I've been back to Rome since then and I recommend Suburbia and Muccasassina. There are a lot of cool wine bars near Piazza Navona. Stay out of Campo Dei Fiori--it sucks and is filled with tourists who think they are on Girls Gone Wild. Best pizza is Frontoni's in Trastevere!

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I like the experience of integrating myself into the society where I'm living. I like to take responsibility for myself and as an artist I feel that I need my own space separate from that of living with a family who may be willing to host me.

Living with other students is OK if you need a boost. I preferred to find my own housing based on my personal financial situation. In all actuality I paid much less than the offered student housing.

Why?
We had a beautiful house with 3 bedrooms, two full bathrooms, 3 large balconies, huge family room and kitchen. We loved the area it was in. It was near some great little pizza places and markets, we felt like locals instead of tourists. When i go back to italy i would love to stay in a place like this.

Personal savings

I worked, but it was illegal/cash in hand work
Personal spending habits
Just because it's more expensive to be there, you want to party and get out there-there is also sites and museums to visit so bring a credit card. To average-I was to about 900 $ a month excluding tuition and housing.

Overall
This is a home far away from home because you get to experience love and support from everyone. From the supportive and patient teachers always there for you to the student body that has everyone's back and supports everyone regardless of colour, race, nationality etc. Studying at the American University of Rome highlights the beautiful life in rome.
