I did not take the opportunity to study much cantonese! but I studied mandarin because I considered it more useful. HK people might have Asian accent some time, but it's easy to understand. even in case somebody does not understand u there will be help around! HK people are very helpful and unterstanding towards westerners

To be honest...I could speak the language of instruction better than most of my professors. I was quite disappointed to hear that most of the teachers have great problems with English although Hong Kong used to be a British Colony. I can say this on behalf of most of the international students.

The course was taught in my native tongue, so it wasn't a challenge. However, the concept of saving face prevents a lot of Chinese from even attempting to speak english.
